چکیده

Effects of In-Class Variation and Student Rank on the Probability of Withdrawal: Cross-Section and Time-Series Analysis for UK University Students From individual-level data for nine entire cohorts of undergraduate students in UK universities, we estimate the probability that an individual will drop out of university during their first-year. We examine the 1984-85 to 1992-93 cohorts of students enrolling full-time for a three or four-year course, and focus on the sensitivity of the probability of withdrawal to the individual’s prior qualifications relative to those of the other students in their university course. We show not only that weaker students are more likely to withdraw but also that the extent of variation in prior qualifications within the student’s university degree course exerts an influence on the individual's probability of withdrawal in a way that varies with the individual’s own in-class rank. Introduction of a New Standard Student-to-academic-staff Index and Its Evaluation in Mashad University of Medical Scinces

Background: in order to evaluate educational courses, usually different criteria of student and academic staff are being used. These criteria for students include their number, fields, the ratio of post-garaduate students to all students, and for staff, they are composed of their number, their rank in the academic pyramid, as well as the ratio of students to academic staff classified based on t...

آیا وضعیت الکتروآنسفالوگرام کودکان مبتلا به صرع، قبل از اقدام به قطع داروها، می تواند عود حملات را پیش بینی کند؟

The use of Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) in children may be associated with adverse effects especially behavioral and cognitive and teratogenic potential effects. The main propose of this study was to find an answer to the question of which factors in EEG of patients before AED withdrawal could have prognostic role in our decision. We studied 106 children whom their medication had been withdrawn 2...

Cross Section Effects on Convergence-Confinement Method in Multi Stage Tunnel Excavation

Dimensionless coefficient () in convergence confinement method shows the relaxation of stress in the wall of the tunnel at different excavation movements. This factor is considered a constant number in previous studies and tunnel geometric characteristics (such as depth, cross-section shape, radius, soil material, etc.) are not included in its determination; however, ignoring these effects can...

Analytical Solution for Free Vibration of a Variable Cross-Section Nonlocal Nanobeam

In this article, small scale effects on free vibration analysis of non-uniform nanobeams is discussed. Small scale effects are modelled after Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory while the non-uniformity is presented by exponentially varying width among the beams length with constant thickness. Analytical solution is achieved for free vibration with different boundary conditions. It is shown th...

a Comparison Study Between the Joint Probability Approach and Time Series Rainfall Modelling in Coastal Detention Pond Analysis (RESEARCH NOTE)

In tidally affected coastal catchments detention pond should be provided to store flood surface water. A comparison between the full simulation approach based on the joint probability method and time series rainfall modeling via the annual maximum of pond level was undertaken to investigate the assumptions of independence between variables that are necessary in the joint probability method. The...
